These terms apply to your use of jordan-mitchell.co.uk, a personal website run by Jordan Mitchell (“I”, “me”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. They should be read alongside the Privacy Policy.
Information on this site
Everything on this site, including the blog posts and insurance articles, is general information only. It isn’t financial, legal, insurance or technical advice, and it may not reflect your circumstances. Content can change or become out of date without notice.
Articles are my own views. They aren’t written on behalf of, or endorsed by, my employer.
Insurance
Although I work as an insurance broker, this website doesn’t arrange, recommend or sell insurance. Describing a type of cover, limit or exclusion isn’t a statement that any particular policy will provide it. Cover always depends on the insurer, your circumstances and the actual policy wording and schedule.
If you request a quote using the links on this site, your enquiry goes to me at work. Any quotation, advice or policy is provided by me or a colleague, under their own terms of business and privacy notice.
Free tools
The tools in Apps are provided free, as they are, with no guarantee that they’re error-free or suitable for your purpose. In particular:
- Conceal encrypts files in your browser. Keep your own backups and remember your password: if you lose it, I can’t recover your files.
- Password Generator uses your browser’s secure random number generator, but you’re responsible for how you store and use the passwords it creates.
- Check anything you generate (QR codes, links, email signatures, vCards and so on) before relying on it.
Cyber Risk Scanner
The Cyber Risk Scanner reads only publicly available information: a site’s response headers, its TLS certificate and its SPF and DMARC DNS records. It doesn’t attempt to exploit, log into or probe for vulnerabilities on the site.
- Only check websites you own, manage or have a legitimate reason to check.
- Don’t use the tool in an automated way, or to cause disruption to it or to other sites.
- The score, grade and risk rating are a rough indicator based on a limited set of public checks. They aren’t a security audit, a penetration test, certification (such as Cyber Essentials) or an insurance risk assessment. A good score doesn’t mean a site is secure, and a poor score doesn’t necessarily mean it has been compromised.
- The downloadable score card reflects a single check at a point in time. Please don’t present it as an independent certification.
I may change, rate-limit or withdraw the tool at any time.
Acceptable use
You must not use this site in a way that’s unlawful, harmful or that interferes with its operation, including attempting to gain unauthorised access to it or the systems behind it.
Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the site’s design, text and graphics belong to me or are used under licence. You’re welcome to share links and quote short extracts with credit, but please don’t republish content wholesale without permission. Third-party trade marks and logos belong to their owners and are shown for identification only.
Links to other websites
The site links to other websites for convenience. I don’t control them and am not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link isn’t an endorsement.
Liability
I make reasonable efforts to keep the site accurate and working, but I can’t guarantee that it will always be available, accurate or free of errors. To the extent permitted by law, I’m not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its tools.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Changes
I may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
